Online-Workshop for architects and other ADC experts

ADC Experts from Ukraine, the Architects Council of Europe and the ARCH-E consortium will approach the topic by showing and discussing Best Practice Examples from different regions.

The workshop is held in the framework of the Creative Europe project UREHERIT, co-funded by the European Union and organized by the National Union of Architects of Ukraine, the Austrian Chamber of Architects and Chartered Engineers and the German Chamber of Architects – in cooperation with the Architects Council of Europe (ACE) and the Creative Europe project ARCH-E.

During the three-year project, European and Ukrainian heritage specialists, architects, planners, engineers, other professionals, officers of local authorities and communities of Ukrainian cities through research, workshops, public discussions, events, continuous professional development, and educational programs for architectural schools, will analyze topics of protection and restoration of Ukrainian cultural heritage. The project is initiated by the Architects Association of Lithuania, co-financed by the European Union program “Creative Europe”.

The use of ADCs is a very effective way of gathering a considerable number of innovative sustainable and ethical solutions based on the broad participation of affected citizens and stakeholders. They result in contributions from many different architects that give different perspective on the situation which contributes to a better understanding of the values at stake in the local community.

Based on international expert exchanges, we will explore the potential of high-quality Architectural design competition (ADC) as a tool to achieve sustainable heritage preservation and recovery in the context of Ukraine. The activities aim at supporting procuring authorities and planners that want to use the ADC as a tool to gather innovative sustainable and ethical planning solutions based on a broad participation. It also aims at connecting European and Ukrainian Architects and stakeholders in the network of the Creative Europe ARCH-E project.

About ARCH-E
ARCH-E is a project co-funded by the European Union under the Creative Europe framework (CREA). Its main objective is to promote high-quality architectural solutions for the built environment by increasing the use of architectural design competitions (ADC) in Europe and overcoming cross border market barriers in the market for architectural services. The ARCH-E Network connects professionals in architecture all over Europe and in the Ukraine to discuss and analyze ADCs and moreover to form transnational teams and working groups to participate and cooperate in architectural design competitions.
